The Gobindobhog rice is a small-grained fragrant rice from West Bengal, GobindoBhog is categorised as a khaasdhan (special grain) and is the chosen offering for Lord Krishna on Janmashthami, thus its unique name. This variety of rice is primarily cultivated in east Burdwan district of West Bengal. In August 2017, the Gobinobhog rice was allotted the GI tag of West Bengal by the Government of India.

Bengal’s BelovedGobindobhog Rice is an all-time favourite for its Sweet Buttery Flavour. The delicious flavour of the rice makes it suitable for a variety of dishes in restaurants as well as at home, including the famous Bengali sweet dish ‘Payesh’ which a type of sweet rice pudding made with milk.

The Gobindobhog rice is especially known for its fantastic aroma. The unique feature of GobindoBhog rice is its fragrant 'natural' aroma while cooking. It should however be noted that aged rice will have slightly lower aroma than young rice.
